I wanted a steel frame with thru axles for my first ever gravel bike. After exhaustive research and strongly considering aluminum framed bikes as alternatives I am super happy with my purchase.
I’m used to riding vintage steel bikes with "hard" gearing so the weight of the Dame was no big deal, in my opinion it’s very well geared for speedy road sections and low speed climbs. Build quality is great, the included combo allen wrench along with a chain stay protector is a nice touch! The bottle cage/rack bolts were a little tight and lacking grease as other reviewers have mentioned, but that is easily remedied. After 50 miles under my belt I am more than happy with this bike and its construction/build quality, and looking forward to many more. I hope Primos cycles enjoys a long and fruitful career in the gravel bike market, they certainly built a great little bike!
I've always thought of bikes as a way to get from A to B, while mixing in the very occasional ride just because. I think the Dame will change that for me. I don't know enough about bikes for my review to be worth while to anybody, but there are plenty of reviews and videos from people that do know what they're talking about. What I can tell you is; it ships well packed, is easy to put together with the tools generously provided, and it's really fun to ride. Have only put about 15 miles on the Dame so far, but that was a nice mix of city pavement, gravel, woods trails, sand, and mud. If you are on the fence about buying this bike just do it. You'll be pumped, I know I am.
Great bike! This bike is fantastic for the price and comes out of the bike well setup with only a few tweaks needed. The only problem is the lack of assembly grease used on this bike. I had to use pliers to remove multiple boss screws and one is still stuck. I would have rather had plastic screw plugs come with the bike that the ungreased boss screws that where torqued into the frame. The axles were also not greased. If assembling yourself I'd suggest buying some bike assembly grease and going through every bolt touching the frame to see if its needed. I don't think this is a big deal and would still recommend this bike to all my friends.
Took my new Dame for a ride today and knocked out a quick 6 mile on some bumpy roads around Brooklyn and by god does it handle sweet. Quite a nimble feeling bike even for it's supposed "heavy" weight. Looking forward to more rides and adding some commuter friendly upgrades. If you're wondering about this bike. STOP. and BUY IT!
Just got this bike in yesterday so this is really a first impression- but the first impression is AMAZING. It’s zippier than my road bike, responsive, easy to ride, and comfy! I’m taking it on a 150mi bikepacking trip this weekend and can’t wait to spend that time in the saddle. So happy with my purchase :)
