Update-2 months

Here's a quick update on my Dame. Since I got it I have ridden around 60-70 miles per week. I could not ask for a better riding experience.

Shifts smooth with occasional indexing (normal). The mechanical brakes are fine. The steel frame paired with 50mm tires makes a really comfortable ride. 40T chainring is perfect for my riding routes and style. I have not even changed the seat.

Problems? Zero. I ripped the sidewall on my front tire the first week, replaced it with same size Continental Double Fighter with a sturdier sidewall. I'll leave the back until it needs to be replaced.

It's just a really nice bike. I have not ridden my Canyon Grizl since I got the Dame. In fact I'm going to sell it and buy another Dame. I really can't recommend this bike enough.

I was thinking for the price point I get what I get right? Well I was wrong!

I was thinking for the price point I get what I get right? Well I was wrong! . I’m a bigger rider so I put things to the test every ride. Being abigger rider I had to make changes to the bike to work with me. So changes like a saddle, bars, stem and gearing were at the top of my list. With these changes the bike’s first ride was a complete success. Got about 9 miles on the first ride and with a couple adjustments it was ready. Second ride with a tire change I was 19 miles in and loving it. I’m looking forward to more time on this bike and as I write this itching to get on it again. I own a nice stable of high end bikes but I have a feeling this steel gravel grinder with be my go to.

My First Dropbar

I have to preface by saying that my regular ride has been a size large Surly Wednesday and I have never ridden a dropbar bike before in my 50 years, so suffice to say that my first ride on the Dame felt extremely weird. But as I have spent more time on it and put in longer rides it just keeps getting more comfortable and fun, and I no longer feel like I am going to fly over the handlebars lol. Again, compared to my fat bike the Dame is light, nimble, and extremely fast. Each ride I continue to push my boundaries a little more and it is becoming the bike I reach for when I have the opportunity to go on a ride. I am on the Georgia coast so there are not many hills, but I have ridden on a good mix of road, gravel and dirt, and it is fun and capable on each. I had wanted the mustard color but it was out of stock and I was too impatient to wait so I went with the metal rhapsody instead, and I must say it is very easy on the eyes. It was packed very well and very easy to get it in riding condition. The only issue is what others have specified about some of the screws being difficult to remove to install the bottle cages. Love the bike, love the company. Cheers!

Great Gravel Bike with Some Technical Oversights

I purchased a gravel bike from Primos Cycles and, overall, I’m very happy with it. It’s surprisingly lightweight for a steel frame, which makes it perfect for long and mixed-terrain rides. It feels agile, comfortable, and performs very well.

However, I ran into an issue with the seatpost clamp. The one that came installed had the wrong size—too small for the seat tube. When I tried tightening it, the screw wouldn’t reach the thread properly, so it couldn't apply enough pressure. Removing it was difficult because it had been forced into place.

Interestingly, the company’s website states that the bike uses a 31.8 mm clamp. I bought one of that size, but it turned out to be too big. After comparing with another steel bike, I found that the correct clamp size is 29.8 mm. It’s a small detail, but caused a lot of hassle.

Other users have commented that the frame bolts are extremely tight. I managed to loosen most of them, except for the rear ones—meant for the rack—which are still very stiff.

Despite those issues, I love the bike. It rides beautifully and has a clean, elegant design. As someone said: these bikes really should go through a proper quality control inspection before reaching their new owners.
